Israeli force attacks Gaza targets

(26 Dec 2018) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised his country’s air force, shortly after Russia criticized an alleged Israeli airstrike in Syria. Netanyahu also repeated his frequent pledge that Israel would not allow Iran to establish a permanent military presence in Syria, and that the US withdrawal from Syria would have no effect on Israeli activities in the neighbouring country.

Jerusalem, Jan 7 (World News) The Israeli air force hit several targets in the Gaza Strip before dawn on Monday, after terrorists fired a single rocket into Israel which was intercepted by the Iron Dome system.

“Air force fighter jets and helicopters attacked several terror targets at a Hamas training camp in the northern Gaza Strip,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, noting the attack was in response to the rocket fired into Israel.

“The IDF holds Hamas responsible for all that takes place in the Gaza Strip,” the army said,
Israeli helicopters attacked at least one Hamas training site near Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.

Residents reported hearing loud explosions, apparently from the interception.

The rocket launch came hours after the Israeli Air Force struck two Hamas positions in the eastern Gaza Strip in response to an explosive device that was flown into southern Israel earlier in the day, the army said.
